InRule® and .NET Core

by | Jan 9, 2017

Editor’s Note: As of June 6, 2018 InRule support for .NET Core is now available with the release of InRule 5.1! Read the news release or the blog post for more information!

Many of our customers and prospects are showing interest in .NET Core, a general-purpose development platform maintained by Microsoft and the .NET community on GitHub. It is cross-platform, supporting Windows, macOS and Linux, and can be used in device, cloud, and embedded/IoT scenarios.

See below for the two most common questions we receive about InRule® and .NET Core:

Why does InRule Technology® care about .NET Core?

.NET Core will allow InRule customers to gain even greater value from their technology investments. By allowing InRule users to experience the benefits of InRule in more places and across more platforms, .NET Core paves the way for a dramatic expansion in the ROI that our User Community can derive from InRule.
We’re excited about .NET Core and the positive impact it will have for our customers. Our goal is to make the InRule runtime core-compatible. Due to our broad and deep use of the various technologies in the .NET Framework, we require the .NET Standard 2.0, which will be supported in .NET Core 2.0.

What is InRule Technology doing to support .NET Core?

Not all of the functionality in the .NET Framework will be available in .NET Core, and the InRule product suite leverages functionality that will not be included in .NET Core.
Our development efforts are focused on refactoring the areas of the InRule product suite that leverage the missing functionality so that all of our products are compatible with.NET Core.
