For this blog post, I’ve decided to CHALLENGE the readers. We are going to apply the Decision Management Community public challenge to our own InRule blog readers.
The challenge for you, dear readers? Create a simple InRule rule application in irAuthor which will correctly compute the risks as laid out in the screen shot above (or the link above, which is formatted a bit differently).
You can email your results to me ([email protected]) prior to 4 pm CT on Halloween (Friday, 10/31). After Halloween, I’ll publish the answer(s) and / or best submissions to the InRule Samples for Rule Authors site.

Prizes? Yes! Two winners will each receive a $5 Starbucks gift card and an email of acknowledgement.
Here’s how we’ll judge the results:
- The rule app correctly calculates the chances for each scenario (they will be tested!).
- The rule app is as clear and easy to understand as possible (spelling counts too!).
One additional rule: InRule employees are not eligible to win prizes.
